From 25 to 28 June 2012 a 4-day study tour in Germany and Austria took place. The aim of the tour was to present an insight on Biomethane upgrading technologies and the operation of plants using these technologies. Through the study tour key actors and stakeholders from starter countries got the opportunity to gather and exchange know-how concerning the application of the technologies, possible legal hurdles and the current market situation.

All in all there were 58 participants from 16 European countries including all partner countries of the GreenGasGrid project. In the course of the tour 4 biomethane plants were visited in Aiterhofen, Kisslegg (Germany), Engerwitzdorf and Asten (Austria).

Additionally, several presentations were held from local stakeholders and project partners concerning not only the upgrading technology but also the market situation in Europe as well as economic aspects. In between the tour offered the chance for open discussion of these topics among attending experts and interested first movers.
