Biomethane trade issues are being addressed by a working group that is led by the European Biogas Association (EBA). Its objectives are to:

• Develop a roadmap to create a European trade scheme
• Improve transparency for biomethane markets/certificates
• Share experience

The activities of the trade working group will focus on the following topics:

• Understand and evaluate existing Green Gas Certificate schemes
• Facilitation of trading (both within country and across boundaries)
• Registration system to avoid double counting
• Biomethane as part of flexibility mechanisms
• Business models including products (certificates, physical gas), contracts/regulations/controls, profit-oriented market participants
